Holidays 2017 #Light the World

Holidays 2017 #Light the World

The Christmas Season crept up on us this year.  Ajay Salvesen and I are amidst the hustle and bustle of moving. transitioning jobs and everything that comes with living in a new town.  I'm pretty sure Ajay is the husband of the universe this year.  He's spoiled me by a surprise visit to the Nutcraker Ballet.  I'm sure I've won his heart by letting him take me to a Jazz game.  The Christmas date night to the Jazz game at the Vivint SmartHome Arena. has become an annual event.  Then to top off being the best husband ever, he spoiled me with expensive jewelry.

Beyond all this, I'm simply grateful for the endless blessings that continually find us.  I'm ever thankful for the special reason for the Season, even Jesus Christ.  He Lives! He Loves! but best of all HE IS! My Savior is truly my best friend, he's always there for me and helps me become my best!  He's picked me up when I couldn't walk with him. He's forgiven me continually and carried me when necessary.  I can imagine my life without him and it's not the most glorious picture.  He is wonderful to me.

It is my prayer that we can be a little better all year long.  Let's be kinder to our neighbor and more loving to ourselves.  Let's make appropriate new year's resolutions that will not be forgotten come February.  Goals that can be adapted as we achieve.  Challenges that we can conquer as we serve those around us! Let us light the world with cheer.  May God bless us with safety, cheer and love in our hearts!

Season Greeting 2017

 Our Dear Family and Friends

They holiday season is here again and of course flying by fast. We have so much to be grateful for in the Salvesen household.  We are busier than ever yet so grateful for our dear family and countless friends who keep us smiling throughout the year.

Ajay and I began 2017 by celebrating his New England Patriots win of the Superbowl.  Ajay also received a promotion at his job  with 1280 theZone Sports Network. Utah State, Aggie Sports was bought by Utah Jazz Radio so he has been privileged to do more in Logan, Utah. Shortly after the promotion Ajay was offered a baseball coaching position in Cache Valley.

In March, he accepted the position as assistant baseball coach for the new highschool now known as the Green Canyon Wolverines.  In the mean time, I,ve been a receptionist for Salt Lake Bees Baseball over the last two years.  During the off season I{ve been able to keep up with my schooling. I{ve kept my pharmacy license active as well as completed two additional finance classes for my coursework with Brigham Young University'Idaho.  I was overjoyed to have been in Rexburg, Idaho during the Solar Eclipse.  It truly was a heavenly experience. During October, we moved to Logan and I am once again working with Walgreens.

Ajay and I have been married over two years.  We have so much fun together and I love being a sports wife. Occasionally our date nights get to include a Jazz basketball or Bees baseball game.   Marriage has been a new and blissful experience for both of us.  We learn together every day and are forever grateful for this time of year.  The time to give and reflect on our Saviou{s birth and the true reason for the season.  We are grateful for all your love and the support so often offered in our behalf.  We apologize for the thank'you notes we missed after our wedding.  Please understand how grateful we are to have been blessed with so much help and love from so many.

Most of all we are grateful for Our Savior and very best friend of all time, even Jesus Christ.  He has always been there for us 100% of the time. We{ve felt His love time and time again especially through those we love.

We hope that the magic will last all year long and that all our loved ones will be safe and blessed with peace this next year. May joy bless your homes this holiday and many more to come.  May the Lord bless you and keep you.

Love Always,

NaeDene and Ajay Salvesen.

Throwback Thursday

Returning Home!

This is what I was doing nine years ago. It was the last day in Arizona as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  This is where I found myself and where I learned to speak the language of love and Espanol!  It truly was the best two years of my life.  I dedicated myself to my love for my personal Savior and very best friend in the whole entire universe! I met, loved and taught some brilliant people who are very close friends to this day.

I will forever be grateful for who I am today because of who I became those 8 years ago.

Rocktober 2017!
October is an awesome month. It has been through out my whole life. It's the month that my loving Grandmother Lillian Adkins Funk celebrates her birthday. Last week I was also privileged to celebrate my Grandpa Chris Olsen's b-day. In a couple of days it will be my new brother's Nick Salvesen's birthday and Today is my dad's birthday. I loved growing up on the Funk Farm and miss the long days of harvest! I
miss sitting at the kitchen table with my mom helping her make the magnetic truck numbers. I loved watching the wheat fields change from a golden yellow to brown. I miss the grade school field trips of spud gleaning. I loved driving home from a football game or church function to a gorgeous sunset along the snake river. Being a farmers daughter, I've come to understand the value hard work. Yet, I miss those John Deere tractors and sitting next to my dad in the potato truck. I am so grateful for the farm that made me the country gal I am today and the loved ones who have shaped me into the best me I could ever be.

Being a sports guy, I love numbers.  Anytime I have a sports conversation I feel numbers are so important to back up what I say.  Here are the numbers that mean the most to me:

$16.00-The amount it cost for the dating site we met on.
$10.72- The total amount of our first dinner date.
$25.23- My weekly budget to travel to Idaho to see NaeDene.
$21.00- NaeDene's weekly budget to travel to Utah to see me.
6 -  Months we dated
730 - Reasons why I love this woman so dang much.
Happy 2 year anniversary to my beautiful wife.  When people say we look good together...its because of her.  Thank You NaeDene for taking the biggest risk of you life marrying me.

To My Ajay

There was a time in my life when I didn't know I could do hard things and be happy with myself at the same time.  Then I found him, Ajay Salvesen and he became my husband.  He helped me see who I could be and all that I could overcome.  He's helped me become the woman that I've always dreamed to be.  Today I am very much that dedicated girl because of him.  He's encouraged me to be my best and helped me see myself through The Lord's eyes. I am forever grateful that Ajay asked me to eternally be the gal on his team.  Sometimes we cry but most of the time I'm giggling because I love being with him.  He's charming, handsome and has taught me everything I need to know about sports.  Who wouldn't love being married to this guy! Happy 2nd Anniversary Babe!  Too Eternity and Beyond My Love! :)  #730days with the Love of my life.  #truelovedoesexist

August & Ajay

Too Eternity and Beyond: Two Years and Counting

August has always been a good month for me mostly because the temperature outside is perfect.  My Ajay's birthday is also in August.  Many people have different b-day traditions. Some families celebrate the person's day for a whole week and even sometime's a person gets an entire birthday month.  Not only is Ajay's birthday on the 8th but our anniversary is on August 28th.  I don't typically give my hubby his own special month but it's not because I don't want too.  However, August is my opportunity to tell the whole world how wonderful my husband is.

He's a sports journalist which means that not only is his life sports 24/7 but mine gets to be too.  Thank goodness I grew up with brothers who share the same sports passion.  My first date with Ajay was at Buffalo Wild Wings in Idaho and we've had many date nights there since that summer day.  He knew I was a football watching kind of girl when I told him my Superbowl Stipulations.  Early on, I told him that I enjoyed watching the NFL and I didn't need to be the one in the kitchen making the snacks during the big game...But that I needed to be enjoying the deliciousness on the couch while watching the game too.  In the first few month's of our marriage that fantasy became a reality even ending up with a broken candy dish.

As I came to know Ajay, I realized quickly that he has a passion for life too.  He's outgoing and encourages his friends to be their best.  Ajay brings out the best in others. He treats others the way he wishes to be treated.  He lives for every moment and accepts challenges fearlessly.  He offers assistance to those he cares about even when he feels he might not have the time.

This Summer he accepted a coaching position.  I soon realized that I am now "Mrs. Coach"  That was fun but definitely a new one for me.  Ajay loves baseball and is loving sharing his passion with the guys of Green Canyon High in Cache Valley.  He's connected with the students and has been humbled by their acceptance of him.

Ajay has taught me many things in the short 2 years of our marriage.  He's taught me the value of love, patience and reminded the importance of dedication and  hard work.  He's been with me every step of the way.  He never walks ahead of me but always side by side.  He loves The Savior and His Father in Heaven and turns to them often.  He hates being away from me, especially when it's because of  working.  He always tries his best and accepts nothing less even if it means defeat.

I'm forever grateful he's allowed me into his life.  He is my forever and the best decision I've ever made.  Today, I'm grateful for the fantastic ray of sunshine he is for me.  Happy #730 Day Anniversary Ajay :)

Taking Note of The Utah Jazz!

With my husband's position at 1280 The Zone Radio and mine with the SL Bees, we get to experience quite an adventurous life.  This year we were able to assist with NCAA March Madness.  Shortly after we were privileged to assist in the accommodation of fans with The Utah Jazz making it to the Semi-Finals.  One of these occasions included being able to set out shirts for the fans who attended these games.  We got to do this a few times and most of them were spur of the moment.  I must admit the sometimes being a sports wife isn't easy.  There are days, I get to deal with unhappy clients and even cruel tempered fans.  It is those days that I am so appreciative of The Larry H Miller Group of Companies.  It is easy "to note" the beautiful and courageous Gail Miller and her stamina and strength in each phase of adversity.  Ajay and I are so very privileged to have the positions we do and to be able to bump shoulders with such incredible people.  Ajay is so very patient with me and the curve balls thrown our way.  I am thankful for him how I'm a better me today because he's been with me all the way.

Positive Pants :)

With my position with the Salt Lake Bees, I have accepted a new assignment.  It also helps being able to add one of those things that I love doing to my work.  It is now my privilege to help with office birthdays!

Many of you realize how much I already enjoy baking and finally, I am able to use it in my career. That being said, this probably isn't much of a surprise.  I remember birthdays as a child and something my wonderful Mother taught me is to help other's feel special.  Its a tradition of love I've tried to pass on with those around me.  As humans, we get down on ourselves and sometimes even into what we aren't capable of.  The whole idea of a celebrating a birthday to be happy about who you are and what you have accomplished! While at the same time sharing the joy and excitement with others.

It's not about the calories I'm gonna hate for eating my birthday splurge. It's not about what I didn't do in my previous years of being alive.  It's more about celebrating the individual and the gratitude we have for them in our lives.  Even if it means we are a kid at heart.  Let's put on our positive pants with a joyful attitude and take a look at some of the birthdays, I've loved sharing
